Shortage of Combo Vaccines in the Coming Months

Heads up, Parents. It seems our tenuous vaccine supply-line has hit a bump in the road. The pharmaceutical company, Merck & Company which handles the ProQuad four vaccine combo shot protecting our kids from mumps, rubella, measles and chickenpox is having production problems and will not have ample supply between July of this year and January of 2008.

So you may want to give your pediatrician a call and see if Junior can get his/her shot a day/week/month early this time around. Not to be too alarmed because there are other solutions involving other brands of shots that cover the same vaccinations but involve more needles and ultimately an extra lollipop or two.
