Mother’s Day themed crafts and coloring sheets
Primarily in spring, it seems most countries around the world celebrate some form of Mother’s Day, with days honoring ‘mother’ dating as far back as the 16th century and some argue it reaches as far back as the days of ancient Greece with the celebration of Cybele, the ancient god of mothers. The current incarnation is said to be loosely based on the U.K. traditions of Mothering Sunday (the U.S. version falling on the 2nd Sunday of May).
Like most holidays, it is a highly commercialized day where it seems the only ‘proper’ way to celebrate and show your appreciation is by opening your wallet. As a parent, I see this as a special opportunity to show the kids that a few handcrafted gifts for mom out weigh anything they could get at the store.
