My Beautiful Mommy

My Beautiful Mommy is a new self-published kids book about plastic surgery. It was written by Michael Salzhauer, a plastic surgeon in Bal Harbour, Florida. Mr. Salzhauer says he cooked the idea up to help parents explain cosmetic procedures to their children.

“My Beautiful Mommy” is aimed at kids ages four to seven and features a plastic surgeon named Dr. Michael (a musclebound superhero type) and a girl whose mother gets a tummy tuck, a nose job and breast implants. Before her surgery the mom explains that she is getting a smaller tummy: “You see, as I got older, my body stretched and I couldn’t fit into my clothes anymore. Dr. Michael is going to help fix that and make me feel better.” Mom comes home looking like a slightly bruised Barbie doll with demure bandages on her nose and around her waist. ~Newsweek Article

Toddler Cell Phone

That’s right kids, no need to wait until you outgrow those diapers to get a cell phone of your very own. Just ask Dad for the new Zeki cell phone marketed for toddlers. YoungToys of Korea is launching a cell phone marketed down-market, as they like to say. You know, for the younger set.

This is not a toy or walkie talkie dressed up to look like a cell phone (although it has short range walkie-talkie capabilities), it’s a real phone with more functionality than my grown up version.

Features include; audio/video recording, MP3 playback, alarm clocks, downloadable games, and even text messages.

Picture Mom’s cell phone rings;

Mom, “Hello”

Toddler, “Mummy…”

Mom, “Yes?”

Toddler, “I went poo-poo.”

Mom, “Good for you. Baby.”

Toddler, “Mummy…”

Mom, “Yes?”

Toddler, “I need toilet paper…”

Mom, “Where are you, Honey?”

Toddler, “In the bathroom upstairs…”

Mom, “Baby, what did I tell you about using Mommy’s minutes?”

Toddler, “Sorry…” (beat) “Mommy?”

Mom, “Yes?”

Toddler, “I still need toilet paper.”

Not that the “geek” title is something that we all strive for but if it is a badge, it should be worn with honor. The folks at JustSayHi.Com have a number of playful quizzes to take - the Geek Quiz is one of them. As seen by the badge below, I am pretty geeky, please don’t tell my wife, I don’t want to burst her bubble.

This is probably the most harmless quiz in the batch.  Some of the others answer the question - The Booze Test, Name That Alcohol , How Many Germs Live On Your Keyboard?, and What Are Your Chances Of Surviving A Zombie Apocalypse?

bullet proof crib

“The bullet proof baby crib is the ultimate in home protection for your child. The crib employs Ballistic Absorption Barriers or BABS. These barriers will absorb ammunition from rifles, shrapnel and hand grenades. They also keep your baby comfy and warm because of their outstanding insulating properties. Numerous coatings can be applied to enhance the aesthetics and add UV protection.” ~ BulletProofBaby.Net

water bottle Water

Designer Yves Béhar of San Francisco-based design and branding firm Fuseproject has created a boldly-colored water bottle that is also a children’s toy. Designed for beverage producer Y Water, the stackable (and somewhat phallic) bottle is an interlocking set of building blocks, once combined with Y Knot biodegradable rubber connectors.

The nine-ounce bottles can be arranged into animals, space stations, and superheroes, among other configurations. The sturdy shell, also used in the medical industry, is Eastman’s Eastar copolyester, a 100 percent recyclable material that does not leach chemicals and is certified safe for food use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (USDA).

The flavored water, which contains only USDA-certified organic ingredients (organic water - what will they think of next), comes in four flavors: Muscle Water, Bone Water, Immune Water, and Brain Water. The initial product roll-out will only be available through Amazon and at Southern California Whole Foods Market locations.
