Affordable Organic Baby Clothing & Bedding

cotton plants
The web is wonderful when you have discriminating taste and you are trying to find that specialty item that the boutiques don’t even carry. Organic clothing and bedding for babies is certainly not one of them, even Target carries organic baby items. Wake up and smell the cotton buds, be smart and bargain shop.

Yes, your choices of stores narrow and the price quickly rises, when it must be Merino Wool or in that beautiful pattern, but for most of us can save a lot of cash just be doing a couple extra clicks, when surfing the web. I did some comparative shopping as a sort of lipnus test for some of the more common organic infant and baby items (*I am fully aware there are differences in thickness and quality of some of these items, this is really to make my Readers more aware of the popularity of organic clothing and home-ware products, don’t expect to pay a premium anymore.

Organic Baby Bedding [crib]:
Walmart | Safari Adventures Organic 4-Piece Crib Bedding Set – $70 [+ shipping]
(compare to this set, which is upward of $500-600 dollars!)

Organic Infant Receiving Blanket [cotton]:
American Baby Company | Organic Thermal Receiving Blanket – as low as $9 [+ shipping]
Tadpoles | Organic Receiving Blanket with Cap – as low as $17 [+ shipping]

Organic Infant & Baby Onsies:
Pure Beginnings | Long Sleeve Organic Onsie
Pristine Planet | Various Organic Onsies – as low as $4.50 [+ shipping]
(compared to $32+ per piece here!)

The Rising Value of eCoupons This Holiday Season

Recent economic shows that there is definite resilience among online sales this year, but not immunity. There is still growth projected (at least on paper), but we will see. Considering things are looking more and more bleak economically both nationally and internationally, I guarantee Retailers are scrutinizing over headcount and overhead. Understanding that Retailers have an easier time making a profit with their online sales since the overhead is lower (less headcount and shipping involved), we can only hope they will be pushing the biggest deals into their online efforts this holiday season.

According to the National Retail Federation, Retailers are going to have to face tough challenges to lure our business during this peak fiscal quarter. These same surveys reveal that Retailer are still hoping to offer some sort  of free shipping incentives for online customers (as an example Target is already advertising free shipping on over 50,000 items this holiday season).

Regardless, as the Consumer, we will be out in force scouring the virtual bargain bins and checking the dates on those redeemable online coupon codes before pressing “purchase.” So whether you looking to stuff some stockings with some zip drives or whether you’re going to use those Fresh Pair coupons to buy some sexy stockings for your wife, keep your eye out for the bargains this year – they’re out there.

Encourage Kids to Start Saving Money

piggy banks at Dwell
There are a lot of great articles written by professional finance planners describing all the reasons why and how we should teach our kids how to maintain a healthy relationship with money. With that in mind I won’t regurgitate them here, rather I will simply say walk the walk and talk the talk. Meaning, be good with your money and they’ll learn to be good with their money. It’s a work-in-progress, I realize.

I have a little change bowl inside the front door of my house where I throw my keys, and with the boys I call it my piggy bank. It gets them thinking about the concept of money and sometimes starts some important conversations about the power of “change.”

My oldest has a piggy bank and is already eager to earn an allowance since he has made his first few purchases with money stolen from his piggy bank. Yes, he has discovered his own “buying power.” He’s only four.
