Smart Ass Thongs for the Wife

thong shotEye Candy Thong

Here’s a gift concept that guys can wrap there heads around, thongs for the wife with snarky things written on them. Brings new terms to the idea of “back talk.” Some of the quips that really “speak to me” are;

  • “Something Blue” (newlywed),
  • “Eye Candy”,
  • “Ooh La La”
  • “Yummy Mummy,” and of course,
  • “Bottoms Up”

You now some marketing brain-child is going to turn this into the next billboard concept. All eyes are on them anyways (the thongs not the marketing brain-child).

Here’s the hard sell when she opens it up and throws you the Look;

a thong with the perfect rise for comfort, a cut to fit and flatter and surged edges so there are no visible panty lines under any clothing. Made from 90% polyamide, 10% spandex, with a 100% cotton gusset, they feel like butter on the skin.”

But I know what’s going on, all you hear is, “blah, blah, blah, blah, feels like butter.” You can thank me later.

Toddler’s House Party

Kids House Party

As parents know, they days of simple birthday parties are long gone. The themes and concepts seem to get more and more elaborate. And it is our challenge to make the whole thing seem effortless, right? My wife and I have been steadily downgrading the kids’ parties for the sake of sanity. We now have it whittled down to neighborhood kids, a few close schoolmates and best buddies. That is it.

Normally on the weekends I count him as my apprentice, whether I’m pulling weeds, fixing the fascia on the house or mending the fence. He’s had his own toolbox and tool belt for awhile now. So my wife figured he would enjoy a construction theme for his birthday.

Boy did he, our oldest son turned 4 last week. So we decided to invite a few kids over (twelve) to a Construction Themed Birthday Party (“Dress for Mess”). The festivities included lightening rounds of hot potato, musical chairs and duck-duck-goose. Mind you, we made all the games non-competitive. Meaning, for Musical Chairs we had equal number of chairs (12 kids, 12 chairs) to avoid the whole “you’re out” (meltdown). Which worked out well.

Kids House Party

When the kids arrived they were given a yellow plastic hardhat and brought to an activity table where they could personalize it with stickers and such. They were each given a kid-sized work belt, that they could write their name on and draw all over. It was stuffed with little party favors (stickers, pencil and ruler set, brushes and travel size paint set).

Mother’s Day Keepsake

Nashelle Cherished Engrave Necklace @ Penelope Poet

The thing I am trying to do this Mother’s Day is get away from buying at all the big franchise stores and try to support the small local retailer who are either making unique and beautiful stuff.

Now that I am a full fledged dad with a couple kids and another on the way, it has me thinking of keepsakes. I never really thought about them before but the thought of have a few cherished heirlooms to add to the family tree, sounds – well it sounds nice.

A piece that I’ve been drawn too was recently highlighted in Life & Style Magazine on the original Material Girl, Madonna. It’s the Nashelle Cherished Engraved Necklace from an Indie Jewelry retailer, Penelope Poet. This piece is designed by Heather Beeson, the creative mind behind Nashelle Jewelry. From her studio on the gorgeous Oregon Coast, Heather and her team of talented artists create exceptional jewelry by hand. Penelope Poet makes an effort to support female artists and moms. So I guess if you buy from them you’re building positive karma points, too.

I recently got it for my wife (don’t tell her) with the two boys names engraved on it and with the third on the way, I was assured I can call in a few months or a few years and add more charms to it. What more can you ask for – a keepsake that grows with the family.

Hip Sexy Nursing Wear

Attractive Nursing PajamasHot Nursing Camasol

It’s fascinating to me that baby formula companies in the sixties and seventies were able to sway an entire generation of mothers/parents away from breastfeeding, of course claiming baby formula (manufactured nutritional powder mixed with cows milk) is better for you than your own Mother’s milk! Well, it seems things are coming full circle. Yes, I think breastfeeding is a good thing and no I have no harsh opinion toward those who don’t. It’s a mother’s decision, plain and simple.

If your wife does breastfeed you may want to consider getting her some cute nursing wear for the holidays. For those dads out there who may not quite have a grasp on the differences between regular pajamas and nursing pajamas – let me provide some insight. Nursing wear tends to have very efficient and strategically placed snaps, gaps and “windows” to provide both momma and baby “access” to make the breast-feeding process both easy and discreet. I must admit this is some pretty exciting technology. The fine folks at NursingPJs.Com have a fine collection of nursing wear (and free holiday shipping to boot), that will please momma, baby and you (dad), as illustrated above.

Their is a plethora of scientific reports and news articles that state high and mighty claims about the many benefits to baby of being breast fed. Watching my oldest son get a battery of three shots (with the final being a tetanus shot in the thigh) while breastfeeding was a first-hand proof that their is some serious mojo in that milk. He didn’t bat an eye. Then again, he could be a robot. Personally, I side with the idea that the hormones/endorphines in the breast milk keep the baby comforted and perhaps block or lessen the impact of pain. All I know is by the end of the visit with the pediatrician, the only one not in tears was my son.
